The only thing I can chalk it up to is that Trump wants to cut the same ‘deal’ with Israel as the one he made with Congress and the one he seems to have made via back-channel with Russia:

‘I get to do whatever I want, and as long as you don’t get in the way of my doing whatever I want, you can do whatever you want.’

Trump is obviously about one thing - shaking down anyone who isn’t his friend for as much money as he can haul away. Putin wants to occupy a few former parts of the USSR? Bibi wants to expand settlements even further?

No problem. As long as Trump gets to build new hotels in any conquered lands and gets regular, glowing praise from the conquerors. A mutual partnership of convenience and opportunism.
