There is a ‘philosophy’ that Timothy Snyder, a Yale Historian, calls Sado-Populism. Basically, it is the idea that no matter how bad your lot, there is a class of people who have it even worse. And therefore everybody else can take comfort.

In the Antebellum South it was the slaves. No matter how bad a white person had it, the Afro-Americans had it worse.

In Germany it was the Jews, the Roma, the auslander.

Today, the administration is trying to put the immigrant in that place.

And as always, it is the weak and disenfranchised who are attacked and picked upon. After all, they do not vote and likely do not have the means to defend themselve legally or otherwise.

And yes, I am horrified to watch it happening here. It can, and is, happening here.
