Let’s not disparage cow colleges. The Koch brothers, who have been working to destroy this planet their entire lives, attended MIT. Trump attended Wharton. The quality of one’s education has little to do with the quality of one’s ethics or morals.

The public colleges aren’t where the Randians find their leaders, to be sure, but it is where they spread their poison. Texas Tech is overrun with libertarian economics professors. Kent Hance, who was one of the fathers of trickle-down economics, was chancellor there until recently. Wayland Baptist has a 9-11 truther on the business faculty. The Kochs, the Hunts, and others like them have targeted public colleges since the 1950s and their efforts have been crowned with success in recent years.The “business mantra” completely dominates many administrations. Of course you can be a decent person, and learn, regardless of where you go to college, or if (like many of the top Lizards) you don’t go to college at all. Republicans and conservatives can target public education, though, because of their control over state and local politics and they have not missed the opportunity.
