My dad was a big fan of The Rockford Files. I was pretty young when that originally aired, but I became a fan of the show as I got older. Same with Columbo and McMillan & Wife. I definitely remember Magnum, P.I. when that originally ran and used to watch it regularly.

I liked McMillan and Columbo but I learned very soon that I had to wait till 15 minutes into the show before I started watching a Columbo episode. I loved watching him figure it out but ONLY if I didn’t know it to start. It was usually easy to figure out but I just couldn’t watch that first bit that showed the solution.

McMillan and Wife was much better than a lot want to give it credit for now a days.

But Jim Rockford remains the “PI” in my mind, even above the classics of noir.
