This explains much, really. The scads of people coming forward about this and that fraud case who are saying they had called the SEC dozens of times, to no effect must feel pretty vindicated. They were literally jacking off while the economy crumbled because of exactly the sort of thing the SEC is supposed to regulate and prosecute.
