Christie is a JUDAS! Right-wing comments go hateful nuts on NJ Gov. Christie for praising Obama's leadership

re: #15 Destro

You act as if Freerepublic is some sort of outlier for the right wing. It is the GOP base in a nutshell. Yes, there are moderate such people still voting Republican but they are the outliers.

Yeah, that’s the problem right there.

For all intents and purposes, I guess I’m liberal. Pro-gay marriage, pro-legal pot, atheist. Don’t think all guns should be banned, but definitely on-board with severely limiting or banning automatic weapons. In favor of universal health care, although I have my concerns about Obama’s plan.

I’ve said this before, but I don’t enjoy watching conservatives/Republicans fall apart like this. Democrats are not angels, and they’re just as beholden to the same sort of corporate interests as the gang across the aisle. We need healthy, vigorous, logical, intelligent debate in our government.

And that’s the issue. When I see the amount of unrepentant bigotry, misogyny, and religious fundamentalism that serves as the Republican platform, I worry. A lot. And I’m not really sure how the GOP comes back from this.

I live in a part of NJ that got very lucky regarding Sandy. Not a fan of Christie’s by any stretch, but he’s doing a wonderful job. We got hammered. Badly. Christie is doing what a competent leader should do; worry about their constituents first and put politics aside.

It’s a very sad state of affairs that many Republicans are vilifying Christie for thanking Obama (who is also doing a great job) for all of the help he’s delivered.

It’s one of many symptoms that’s indicative of how fucked up Republicans are these days. At this point, if the reality denial stops here, it’s still going to take a generation to get this poison out of their system. If at all.
