There is at least one website supporting a confederate movement that claims members in all states. Their unique shtick is that they reject the term ‘neo-confederate’, insisting that they are the original Confederacy, existing in an occupied condition after the surrender of their armies, but not their government. It took me quite a while to determine that they are not a parody site.

Each former Confederate state had to re-apply to be allowed back into the Union, in order to end the military occupation.

Weird factoid: President Grant wanted to repatriate all the freed slaves to Santo Domingo (the Dominican Republic).
