I keep hearing this, but it’s not going to happen. What sort of candidate would be required to turn 49 states blue? To turn South Carolina, or Alabama, or Utah, or Wyoming into democratic EVs?

I’m not sure if it says more about the era or about the willingness of one side to reconsider, but a 49-state win is unfathomable today. And it sure as hell would take a candidate fantastically more radical than Walter Mondale.
