A few years ago I was arguing with our local talk show host about AGW and the use of the word consensus as used by scientists. I was arguing that consensus was used to mean ‘majority’, he was arguing that scientists were using the word to mean ‘all’. After he cut me off he pulled up six online dictionaries, five of which had his as their #1 definition. In his mind, the fact that the majority of dictionaries had his definition as #1 meant he was right. How the scientists used the word, or what they meant by it meant nothing.

Why were you wasting your time arguing with these people? All we an do is to try to contain the derp and humiliate them by using their own words (especially those not intended for public consumption) as often as we can.
