Yeah, I went to a public grade school (K-6), and half a mile away was a Catholic school, so we intermingled quite a bit, obviously. The Catholic school boys were the most brutal, insensate bullies it’s possible to imagine.

They were even meaner when they transferred to the public school in 9th grade. And Catholic boys who didn’t go to parochial school were just as nasty. Especially when you’re Jewish. Teachers let their antisemitism run unchecked.

Happiest day of my life was when I got out of High School Hell.
