The there’s the second tweet of the thread:

“As a result, when Trump withdraws, all we’re actually doing is giving UP the right to participate & influence the efforts of WHO - ceding even more authority to China (which Trump has decried). Of course, as of January, the next president can just reenter us into membership.”

The one thing I’ve not been able to figure out with Trump on foreign policy is whether his ceding power to China is intentional or simply a byproduct of his incompetence. I mean, if you wanted to give China more power on the world stage, isn’t this basically the way you’d do it while promoting a psuedo-isolationist foreign policy? Then again, he clearly has no understanding of the dynamics at play within the international system, so it could just be total incompetence.
