TROY POTTERY HOLDS A KEY TO THE GREAT BRONZE AGE COLLAPSE

I’ve referenced the “great Bronze Age collapse” before in writing about religious ideas. If it wasn’t for this great transition in antiquity, we (the US, or western culture as we know it) probably wouldn’t be, nor would our dominant religion (“Christianity” variant of mono-theism) be what it is.

Around 1200 BC the entire Eastern Mediterranean underwent a major political/social change, and the old ways and old empires collapsed, and out of the rubble arose those “ancient” (but not quite as ancient) civilizations to which most people refer when they think of antiquity.

Anyway, big changes have happened to human civilizations before - really big changes.

Even our most sacred institutions will not last.
