Obdi, I must disagree.

This was a dude who avoided the Vietnam draft by going into the Air National Guard, and then saying “fuck y’all” to his responsibilities.

I just think shit that happened a long time ago should generally be left there unless it shows some severe mental aberration. It wasn’t news that Bush was a spoiled, privileged dude who had stuff handed to him throughout his life, except for those who had a vested interest in ignoring that and would have also ignored any story about his guard service.

The real issue is that he avoided Vietnam. The mechanics of how that privilege worked out is not really important. It happened because he was privileged and chose not to go, Kerry was privileged and chose to go. That’s the important bit.
