Well, I was referring to the fear that Bush would refuse to vacate the office, but point taken. The flipside to that was that Bush was still relatively popular in 2004, and the same thing can’t be said for Trump. He’s really disliked by a lot of people right now, and there’s nothing I can see happening to change that. Certainly a 9/11 type event would not accrue to his advantage like it did Bush. The days of shaming people into being “patriotic” (read, nice to the GOP) are over.
He may be disliked, but there is no Democrat currently running against him. Once there is, that person will instantly become the most liberal Constitution-hating criminal ever. FOX will make every possible accusation against that person, typically accusing them of the same things that Trump actually does. The rest of the US news media will make FOX accusations headline news every day and debate them ad nauseum. That candidate will be just as disliked within 6 months, because that’s the power of the US media. There is no path to victory for a Democrat under those circumstances. And even if he or she should somehow win, Republicans will still have large majorities of both House and Senate.
