It’s helping me understand the history of the nation itself. Didn’t know the French only got there in 1858. Thought it was earlier like Brit involvement in India.

The French got a bit of a late start on the Far East. Something to do with that pesky revolution. That, and getting dominated by the British and Spanish at sea for a generation.
