Getting him under oath is a bonus, but lying to the FBI is a crime even without the oath.

But if he had competent lawyers, they’ll be demanding he cite the 5th. He wont, because he’s too vain and ego-driven to do that, and it puts him in legal jeopardy.

He is literally his own legal team’s worst nightmare, and everyone knows it. That’s why all his right wing cronies are doing everything imaginable to try and derail the investigation now, before Trump speaks, because it will not end will for any of his admin once he does.

Trump’s in a unique position as president. He could, in theory, pardon himself, or order the AG/DOJ/FBI to end the investigation or not proceed with a criminal case. He can do Saturday Night Massacre II: The Stupidening. It then becomes a political question in impeachment proceedings. If Paul fucking Ryan can’t find the spinal integrity to proceed with impeachment, and if the Senate has too many wingnuts, then Trump is bulletproof.
