They didn’t win the debate. They won because enough Republican senators did not care about Ford’s accusations and decided their golden boy should go on anyhow. That’s what happened here.

They got their man in. It might cost them in the short run, but I guess their calculus is that they can win back those seats in 2-4 years while BK is in for decades.
