I wasn’t young enough for Harry Potter to impact my life as a pivotal childhood text, but…man, she’s managed to alienate almost everyone that had warm feelings for her.

As an adult who read HP books to understand the cultural phenomenon I found them to have a faint Tory/classist aroma, but it was still disheartening to see the specific thing that twisted her up.

I’m going to bed now, but after the last kerfuffle over JR’s views on transgender people, I took the time to actually read what she had to say about the issue. Conclusions: what she thinks and what they say she thinks are two very different things. Also, I’m not saying she’s right, but what she says certainly deserves consideration.

But it’s complicated. Absolutely unsuited to the twitterverse.
