Like most devout people, she’s only devout when she remembers to be. About 98% of the time she’s sensible, cute, funny (even raunchy), enjoyable to talk to, sensual, and we um… get along just fine… in certain areas… But when it comes to religious politics, she occasionally shows part of herself to be an ignorant, reactionary, stunningly hypocritical sheep. Part of her is just programmed with this bullshit since childhood. It’s like there’s a separate little Queen of Derp in there that I fortunately only bump into once every couple of weeks. I love her, but she’s got a bit of a disease in there somewhere that I’ll never be able to cure.

I know full well that I’m an aggressive, vicious asshole once I’ve put something into the Enemy category, and I’ve told her that if I ever told her what I really think about her religion, her church, her preacher, and what they’re doing to her kids’ brain, she wouldn’t speak to me again. So, we don’t talk about it.

Other than that, we get along great.

Sometimes compartmentalizing certain things is the prudent path to take. My wife and I have a similar unspoken agreement.
