Platonism may make sense for mathematics. For anything else, it is laughably inadequate.
It is so obvious that the meaning of ‘cat’ is derived empirically by observation, experience, generalization and a somewhat arbitrary definition.
Especially if the alternate view is that an animal is a cat if and only if it participates (somehow) in the Platonic Ideal of cat-ness.
