I think a lot of advertisers don’t want to pull ads before the contract runs out. Once that happens they can spin a non-renewal of contract as “we are pulling ads due to the assholery of …”.

Well, a guy was murdered but our contract cost us money, so we’ll keep advertising. Your comment right there shows the calculus. Money over life.

I get that corporations aren’t social justice organisations. But if murder wasn’t enough to drive them to pull adverts, and Billo’s problems have been documented for quite a while, the calculus is “how much money will we lose from liberals who are pissed at us now versus how much money will we lose over someone who slags and assaults women if we don’t advertise with him.”

No points for doing the right thing after being boycotted. Boycotting a corporation is what people do when it will not do the right thing.
