Congrats to Ossoff in GA-6 for nearly pulling off the unthinkable - running in a deep red district for a seat previously held by the current HHS Secretary Price, and nearly getting the magic 50% needed to avoid a runoff against a clown car of GOPers.

Trump, of course, thinks that this shows GOP strength. Ayep.

Comrade Combover feels convinced that the GOP’s strength was on display, but Ossoff pretty clearly demonstrated just how much of a FUBAR situation the GOP is in right now. When you tally up the vote percentages of all the GOP candidates, the final vote tally was (rounded) 52-48 in their favor. This is in a district where Tom Price won reelection just months ago by 20%, so already the party’s support is down by a factor of 10. And Price was pretty much an institution of Georgia politics, having served in one capacity for another for 20 years before Trump called him up from Congress. The woman running for his slot has 3 years as Georgia SecState and several failed campaigns under her belt.

You can bet that a lot of top-level Republicans opened their morning paper and immediately reached for the Maalox.
