It makes it excruciatingly hard to watch.

The interesting thing was how the miners actually were requisitioned to do the work and how their leader tried to do right by his people.

In the end, they never had to implement the cooling system, because the reactor never melted all the way down - they filled in the tunnel built with concrete and called it a day.

But at the time, they didn’t know that.

At the end of the episode, where they were burying the firefighters who’d died of ARS - in zinc coffins, then all the coffins sealed in concrete…..damn, that was hard to watch.
