Yeah…a man beats his wife then for the sake of the family she’s never allowed to bring it up again…or else. And just like in bad marriages, there’s third parties that constantly repeat that the status quo is the right thing—generally having a knowledge of the interior of the situation they’re criticized about as deep as “sitcom marriage tropes” and “it is tradition”—that you have to stay in because think of what will be lost.

And eventually the gambler’s fallacy that it can’t go lethally wrong, with no warning signs, is disproved.
