And that is why the defeat of the election stealing faction in the Georgia GOP primary gives me hope. Kemp and Raffensperger are far from good guys, but at least they didn’t arbitrarily void black votes to reverse the election just because Trump asked them to, which Perdue and Hice would’ve done in 2024.

2024 was a close-run thing, but even with a record GOP turnout, it could have gone differently without a handful of GOP state election officials who still possessed some shreds of decency and fairness.

Two problems: those officials are long gone, replaced by loyal party hacks, and we cannot count on the Democratic turnout being as overwhelming as it was after four years of Trump and a year of Covid.
