Vatican logic: “Artificial” contraception (condoms, The Pill, IUDs, etc.) are artificial barriers to having children that interfere with God’s will.

The claim is that natural family planning is just as effective as the pill when done correctly. Problem is, most people don’t do it correctly, since they may not read tests correctly, or miss symptoms, or they decide to hell with all of the record keeping and constant stress and have sex even when they think a woman might be in her fertile days, so they end up with a much higher risk of an unintended pregnancy. It’s why even most Catholic couples don’t bother with natural family planning and just use some sort of artificial birth control.

There is always biology to contend with. A very strong orgasm can produce ovulation out of sync with the cycle. Violent rape can also produce ovulation as it can cause a violent organsm. Something to do with evolutionary biology.

So the “take your temperature” method can backfire if the woman really enjoys spending time with her husband.

I still don’t get why God doesn’t like for science to be involved. I would think he would want each child to be wanted and planned for. I think it is the men in the church heirarchy who need worker bees to tithe.
