It was a mistake that Franken brought on himself and all of the rest of us. That picture was utterly damning.

He could have weathered it. He apologized to the woman, and the woman accepted his apology. He was ready to go through an Ethics investigation. He did the right thing.

The blowback from Conyers sent a good number of Democratic senators into a panic, and knees jerked.

Backwoods is absolutely right, we’re now on a slippery slope. Precedent has been set, and even Dems who are falsely accused now will be expected to follow that precedent. Bad, bad move.
