My gun control positions have not changed in several years.
1. Vetting and licensing of owners.
2. Mandatory insurance
3. Safe storage subject to ATF (not yokel police) inspection
4. Universal background checks.

These measures have worked very well in countries where they have been introduced. Contrary to much NRA/Repug propaganda, people in Canada, Australia and New Zealand own and regularly use millions of guns. There are 1.5 million guns in New Zealand, about 1 for every 3 people. This is far less than the US, with 1.2 guns per person, but still a long way from prohibition.

The Czechs, the Finns, the Swedes and the Norwegians all have healthy gun cultures with sane regulations and controls. As I’ve said repeatedly, we could drop the Czech laws into the US and be far safer instantly.
