re: #142 buzzsawmonkey

I have found, time and again, that the best tactic when being accused of “prejudice” by someone who disagrees with my position—“prejudice,” don’t you know, is supposed to shut you up, make you apologetic, and knuckle under to someone who can’t defend their position—is to say, as blandly and confidently as possible, “Just because I’m prejudiced doesn’t mean I’m wrong.”

Invariably, the failure to conform to the knuckle-under scenario, the refusal to go on the defensive to deny the accusation, throws the other person totally off balance.

Fun, fun, fun.

But true prejudice is based on WRONG or UNJUST beliefs that go beyond mere verbalization:

Prejudice
1: injury or damage resulting from some judgment or action of another in disregard of one’s rights ; especially : detriment to one’s legal rights or claims2 a (1): preconceived judgment or opinion (2): an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge b: an instance of such judgment or opinion c: an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics
