Most likely not a very good one.
He said that Grant and Sherman were war criminals. I don’t agree. They faced a (mostly)well lead and very determined enemy who was often hard to bring to battle. Given the difficulties in attacking the enemy’s armies, he chose to go after the Confederacy’s ability to make war by ruining places like Jackson and Meridian, Miss, and Atlanta. It was a brutal tactic, but one used because conventional tactics didn’t work.
