As a culture, America has demonstrated that a few losses to random violence, no matter the reason, are okay. They’re just okay. Yes, we’re all very sad about them for a bit, and there’s some hand-wringing, but we’re totally okay with people dying to random gun violence every day.

In other words, if your rhetoric leads only to a few deaths that exist as sort of background noise, there’s no penalty to your rhetoric.

What worries me is some certifiable right wing only crazy is going to try and go for the president, fail (or worse yet pull it off) and it still won’t make the GOP bat an eyelash or admit they’re doing something wrong…
