Yeah that’s terrifying. And I haven’t even gotten started on how many of them seem to think Lincoln was a tyrant and that the CSA gets demonized wrongly in history.

I have an idea for a book. If you’ve read or seen Gone with the Wind, you’ll notice it presents a rather rosy picture of the South before the Civil War. But then there’s Rhett Butler, who seems to see the world around him differently. What if the story was rewritten from his POV. Where in the original the slaves were taken care of, he sees the beatings they took, and though he can’t do much to stop them, he’s nicer to them than everyone else. The story could be rewritten showing what actually happened.

I’ve suggested it to my son, but he’s still working, at 16, on his first novel.
