The Times has been the newspaper of the NYC elite for nearly its entire existence. Its readership’s median income is probably in the six-figure range, or close to it, so the feature articles are targeted toward that demographic, plus the upwardly mobile. Newspapers have to do what they do to stay in business, so writing for the typical Times reader is forgivable, in my book (as a native New Yorker and a longtime Times reader).

The Daily News and the NY Post take care of the regular folks: the News takes the Dems and the Post the RWNJs.

Thing is, I am in their class of readers. I make the income, I have the education. However, for some strange reason, I am not of a “I’ve got mine, screw you” mentality, and there’s a lot of that in the Times.
