Every fire gets an incident name. I don’t know who does it, but they need an editor. There’s one in Arizona called the Frye Fire.

In New Mexico, the Cow fire is out, but nobody got anything to eat.

Fire names are usually based on a local landmark or topographical feature. Usually the first unit on scene or the local dispatch office get the privilege.
