I’ve often wondered about punning, because my observation is that most punsters I know make me think ‘Spectrum’. Indeed, in my family the Social Sister is the worst punster (part of why she sees herself as the dumb one).

I read somewhere, probably here, that wordplay is common among those on the spectrum.
