Apparently the early Americans tried a number of things to flavor and preserve beer, in the absence of hops. One was spruce buds. Anchor brewery, being history-minded and loving experimentation, once brewed a Spruce Beer, using spruce buds just like our ancestors.

It was horrible. Like the bastard child of beer and Pine Sol.

Yet, at the time, those Early Americans probably guzzled the stuff down like it was the finest Rheingeheit lager, and didn’t complain….

Maybe it’s been asked-and-answered, but who - besides Chuckles The Evil Clown, Dim Jim and Paul (Paul Ryan’s Imaginary Nemesis) Nehlen are the other 18 individuals named?
