re: #58 Targetpractice

Which really says to me that they know he didn’t “leak” the letter, that someone in his chain of command did,

One thing that stands out to me, is that the acting Secretary asked Crozier to contact him by telephone if he had concerns that weren’t being addressed in his chain of command.

I’m pretty sure the sequence of events were something like:

1) Crozier reports concerns through chain of command.
2) Acting Secretary either orders or has standing orders in place for navy to not listen to those concerns.
3) Acting Secretary offers to talk to Crozier by phone.
4) Crozier documents his disagreement with his orders through his chain of command.
5) Someone between Crozier and the acting secretary leaks the letter.

The Trumpists were trying to cover up that the valid concerns that Crozier had, and had asked him to use an non-official communications channel in order that is concerns could be take out of his chain of command, and so that they wouldn’t be documented.

And that’s the thing they didn’t want other people in the military to do, start letting people know exactly how bad the Trump regime is fucking up.

As for the investigation, the purpose of it is pretty clear: Keep Crozier quiet until after the election or until they can find an excuse to shit-can him, whichever comes first.

I agree with that. Is he allowed to resign his commission if he wanted to?

Does anyone happen to know how many ‘levels’ there would be between the Acting Secretary and Commander Crozier? I’m guessing it can’t be that many.
