I don’t think we’ll ever boot the monarchy or at least not in the foreseeable future. It would be such a huge headache to implement, changing the constitution, figuring out what to do about all the treaties made with the crown and actually coming to an agreement on the whatever the new system of head of state would be. Even if the majority agree that we should, or don’t care one way or another the sheer time and complexity is a real turn off. Most people I know don’t care one way or another but just can’t be fussed spending the energy or wanting to gov’t to spend energy on it when there are other things that need to be focused on.
