Effectively, many of them already have.

Look at the “campaign” Roy Moore ran. He barely appeared in public for the last three weeks or so before the election.

Once they’ve already acknowledged they’re working for their wealthy funders and not for their constituents, why waste time keeping up the charade? We have a prime example out here near me in western New York - I bet we see almost nothing public from Chris Collins in the Buffalo area over the holidays, or into next year.
