I donāt hold FDR on a pedestal. What he did do was far-and-away better than what the Republicans under Hoover were doing (and Hoover tried to undermine when FDR was elected): Let āem eat Dust Bowl.
Hoover pretty much set the Republican Partyās āprofits over peopleā positions they still have today. Utterly opposed to anything resembling ābank bailouts,ā anything resembling social services or welfare for the masses, &c.
Oh of course. Donāt get me wrong. The New Deal was a great thing for this country. FDR is beloved in my family especially my momās but I just think heās over-deified by people who want to move the party to the left on economics. They ignore his mistakes and he did make mistakes.
