Trump may be aware of a non-negligible possibility that the regular military would refuse orders to go out and shoot protestors. I’m sure Erik Prince has a ready made solution to present to him, if he hasn’t presented it already. This would follow the Putin practice of using mercenary and irregular forces in “messy” situations.

Aren’t most Russian “contractors” (i.e. mercenaries) employed/deployed outside of Russia itself? Mainly in the ME, IIRC…?
I would imagine at home, Putin would find the domestic resources necessary to “keep order” readily available. And not too worried about “accountability”, either…
