Well-grounded masts offer something called “the cone of protection. Imagine a pole or tree, extend a line on the ground twice its height, and make that the radius of a circle. Anything that stays inside the cone described from the top to that circumference is (probably) protected. Except when it’s an ammunition magazine and the magic doesn’t work. It’s one of those models that work best with perfectly spherical cows.
Sorry, I only deal with spherical cows in a perfect vacuum.
