re: #153 researchok

Further, are you suggesting that Americans aren’t smart enough to determine who to vote for and are wholly influenced by advertising?

No. How on earth do you possibly get that from what I said? I’m saying propaganda has an effect. It’s really, really weird that people seem to want to argue vehemently that propaganda simply has no effect.

As for negative advertising, are you suggesting that only the GOP doers that?

First of all, I didn’t mention ‘negative advertising’. Second of all, I certainly didn’t say that only the GOP does anything. I have no idea why you always need to create absolute strawmen.

This goes back to our conversation yesterday, where you were refusing to engage with the idea that the GOP is actively using bigotry in a really excessive way in the current election, a way that was not seen from the Democrats over the past eight years. They really are; the amount of lies told by GOP candidates about Cordoba House alone is insane.

And before you ask— yes, there are Democrats who are doing things that are assholish too, like that tool Grayson and his lie of an ad about his opponent.

However, there are not equivalent amounts of insanity; the GOP, in the current moment, is engaging with bigotry, lies, and propaganda in a way that the Democrats in no way equaled over the past nine years.
