Is it possible he’s got Asperger’s? Or something else on the autistic spectrum? The things he was really good at to make money at Bain, the total incomprehension of normal human interaction… I dunno.

I think it’s privilege, not clinical.

On rare occasions I’ve rubbed elbows with people who are at the top of the heap in terms of wealth and social class.

People that have full-time staff and a social life that’s very carefully screened—no casual interactions doing day-to-day tasks, no off-the-cuff socialization with neighbors or people dropping by unannounced—lose the knack for small courtesies. They’re used to addressing subordinates and to one-sided interactions where there’s no pushback.
