Yet that’s just one aspect of American exceptionalism, one that is played out in the prophecies of Columbia burning “the Sodom below.” Other aspects show up pretty clearly, such as the idea that America is unique and thus better than other nations, to the point that Columbia actually believes itself superior to America. There’s the fanatical worship of the Founders, who are viewed as having given America gifts that no other nation has received.

I guess the problem for me is that any aspects /traces of American exceptionalism I personally have are tied into the fact that we were one of the englightenment period’s first major democratic countries which managed to operate democratic/republican style of government on a huge scale and actually managed to make it work despite having parts of the country that effectively hated other parts of the county’s guts.

Thus the complacency with which Columbia has abandoned any pretext at democracy divorces it from being an accurate depiction of the horrors of MY vision of American Exceptionalism.

Which I suppose/admit is more a problem with 2k / irrational not reading my mind/catering directly to me than the final product I general.
