My recollection from my time in Kentucky a couple of years ago was that in many places mountain-top removal is the mining procedure of choice (remaining seams too hard to mine conventionally) and there are communities living with poisoned water and other environmental hazards. There won’t be a whole lot more jobs, just more poison.
It’s sad honestly. My grandparents grew up in an industrial town in PA. Population has dropped a lot since they lived there. We need to retrain people not return to the past.
