It’s the whole “unintended consequences” bit. The more reliance we have on foreign suppliers for our pharmaceuticals, the easier it is for them to lop us off at the knees whenever there’s any sort of dispute.

Phenobarbital is not a US invention. It is owned by Lundbeck of Denmark. Lundbeck is required to follow EU regulations.

It’s too bad my epilepsy relies on a foreign-made drug than an American-made one. I guess it’s my fault my seizures don’t respond to good ol’ patriotic drugs like Klonopin, or that I am allergic to Yankee Doodle Gabapentin. /s
