My dad always told my brothers and I that respect was earned. Alex Jones has done nothing in his public and it would seem private life to be worthy of respect. We’re talking about a man who encouraged denial and harassment of a shooting tragedy involving first graders and their families. I will never respect Alex Jones. He’s probably the biggest shitbag among the right wing talk show hosts and man there’s a lot of them.

IMO, there’s a minimum level of respect you accord to strangers, because they’re people and you don’t know them. You don’t shove them out of the way, you don’t cut in line, you give a friendly smile if your eyes meet in passing, you hold the door for them if they’re right behind you and/or carrying packages. That kind of thing. You do it, because you’re a decent person and they probably are, too.

You can earn more respect, or you can earn less. Jones has earned less.
