Help me out those who lived it and would have known Reagan from his acting years but was Reagan’s suddenly talking the religious right’s language just as amusing to you as Trump doing so? My personal belief is the religious right are either easily conned or will overlook someone not really being a believer in their bs as long as they give them what they want which is what Reagan and now Trump have given the RR. Likewise, they detest people like Carter and Obama and Hillary Clinton who actually do understand scripture and religious tradition.

The bolded part is really what it comes down to. God, Guns, Abortion is not just a phrase. Really, anyone can get votes from evangelicals as long as they talk a convincing game, even if they are completely full of shit and hypocritical as Stan himself.
