Looking up more about the two candidates (there were more, but the others have dropped out), Bryce started fundraising and working right after Trump was elected. He’s testified in the state legislature against Walker’s anti-union legislation, &c.

You are correct he doesn’t have to debate.

But you are leaving out something very big in your political method debate with others.

Impression.

They way she is going about it is really making him look bad…and that does leave an impression, politically correct or not.

And if he is selling himself as a big tough working man’s man, not debating a woman leaves a bad impression. And that may work against him with women voters and even many men. They may question how tough is he, and can he stand up to Trump and Republicans.
